We are thrilled to announce the nominees for the inaugural Dementia-Friendly Canada awards!

This January is Alzheimer’s Awareness month, a time for Canadians to reflect on the courage and resilience of people who are affected by dementia. 

We are also thrilled to to announce that we will be honouring some incredible individuals, groups and organizations through our inaugural Dementia-Friendly Communities awards! The awards were created by the Dementia-Friendly Canada project and are designed to recognize the phenomenal work that is being done across the country to make Canada a place that is inclusive and supportive for people affected by dementia.

There are six different categories: voice, ally, grassroots group, municipality, small to medium organization and large organization. The nominees are:

Dementia-Friendly Small to Medium Organization

✦ the Yorkton Public library

Dementia-Friendly Large Organization

✦ St. Michael’s Long Term Care Centre,
✦ Vancouver International Airport and
✦ YMCA Southwestern Ontario.
